Samsung Scales back Phone Manufacturing Throughout April As Market Demand Falls Off

A report in the South Korean tech source The Elec states the company would pull back production from about 25 million devices per month to merely 10 million units through the month of April. The publication quotes an un-named source to propose that current lockdowns due to Covid-19 and the shutting of factories located in India as well as in Brazil are the main causes for the output cut.
Samsung report production would be normalized in May when both the India and Brazil plants will ressume production. Yet, even though this lockdown has been lengthened in India till the third of May and considering that Covid-19 cases unfortunately are rising in both these two countries, the anticipated return to normal may yet take a more lengthy process than the company anticipates.
And yet, there is a silver lining for the company. Sales projections for its Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra are outperforming market predictions with sales believed to reach 6 million units throughout this year when compared to the expected numbers 3.5 to 5.25 million smartphones.

Great iPhone And iPad Chargers For 2020: The Best Option In Lightning Cables, Wireless Chargers And Chargers For The Apple iPhone

The best choice of wired and wireless iPhone & iPad chargers & cables.
The larger & better Apple’s batteries become, the bigger the displays and the more powerful the CPUs that are in the phones. This means that we all still need to recharge the iPhones often.

There’s two different types of iPhone charging: wired charging and wireless. Wired can be faster, however not always: what matters is the power that the charger provides. Up until very recently every iPhone had a 5W standard, but iPhones have supported fast charging since the iPhone 8: for that you will need an 18W charger or higher, and it should have a USB-C connector, not the usual USB A connector.

Apple iPhones utilise a different wireless charging protocol than Android devices, & it’s imperative that you get USB PD if iPhone fast charging is important to you: that is the standard Apple’s iPhones use. Without it, a fast charger will not charge umm, fastly.

Below you will find sound advice on exactly what to look for in a charger, as well as our preferred options for chargers.

Wireless Or Wired iPhone Charger

Wireless is not as fast, but it’s easy. iPhone’s wireless chargers deliver 5 Watt or 7.5 Watt and work with most cases on the market.

Many standalone wireless charging cradles expect you to purchase the charger, & can’t provide more power than what you put into it, and even if the iPhone wireless charger can provide 7.5W, it cannot do so if you’re plugging it to a charger that will only provide 5W of charge.

Wisely Purchase Your iPhone Charger

Don’t just look at price. Think about what you want to do today, & what you might want to do in a year. Consider this, an 18W charger will fast charge an iPhone, however it’s not big enough to charge a MacBook Pro; so a more powerful one that can may be a better selection for any future needs.
It’s also a good idea to go for a USB Type C even if you do not need it right now, that is where tech is heading, so USB Type C is a smart move & is also backwards compatible.
These are our favourite iPhone charging blocks, iPhone data cables and wireless charging cradles. We’ve picked them on three key criteria: quality, usefulness and also value for money. Whether you’re a nomad or a stay at home worker, these chargers, cables and mats are an excellent idea to have the iPhone powered and ready.

What To Watch Out For In A Charging Block

Output & ports are important. To take advantage of fast charging (Apple’s iPhone 8 and onwards) you will need 18W or greater as well as USB-C, instead of the older, more readily available USB A connector.

What To Watch Out For In Your Lightning Cable

Durability is key. Having a well made cable reduces tangling, look for reinforcing where the cable meets the connector, as that is where these cables will fray.

Things To Look For In A Wireless Charger

Many iPhone wireless chargers will deliver 5 Watts, which is great for overnight charging, however 7.5 Watts will charge more quickly.

Wisely Choose The Best Lightning Cable

A lot of the iPhone cables will be the same. You could buy them from Apple even though they are a lot more expensive than other brands, and should you usually damage these cables we recommend you get a cable with a bit more longevity.

My Limit App

The My Limit app has a single and simple goal and that is to let you keep track of how much you have had to drink, as well as how sober you may or may not be. This app is available for Android and iOS.

This is based upon an honour system, whereby you enter some information about yourself and then you track every alcoholic beverage you consume.

This tracking is very basic and the percentage of alcohol is an estimate rather than being an exact measurement, as the app doesn’t have a drink database or anything like that to draw information from.

But when you enter how many drinks you have had, and if you keep track of how far apart they are this app will track how drunk or how sober you actually are.

This is an imperfect system obviously and should not ever be relied upon if you are not sure whether to drive or not (if in doubt do not do it!), but having an idea of what percentage you would blow, or how long it will be until you are completely sober, is interesting to see. It can also be an eye opener when you can track your drink intake over time. The My Limit app is not something you can or should depend on, but it can be pardon the pun, be quite sobering.

NZ Police Has A New AI Officer

In an attempt to rectify the fact that about only a quarter of crimes in New Zealand are believed to actually be reported, a new Al officer is being trialled at the police national headquarters in Wellington. Ella, as the force’s new Electronic Life-Like Assistant is known, will act as an initial public interface. It’s hoped that Ella and an accompanying crime reporting kiosk will streamline enquiries and be less intimidating for people wanting to report crimes.
